have you ever tried airbrush inks?
oh and just an advice, in order to avoid the cracks, make sure the air isn't too dry.

i havent really tried anything but acrylics. i may spread my wings some when i feel ive learned acrylics enough. i have learned to let them dry slowly, dont put them by heat sources. it makes sense if it were too dry the air would pull the moisture out of the painting too fast....

i suggested, airbrush inks because, they are acrylics based, and they flow in a very yummy way, you might get some pretty good effects with it, believe me...it's just amazing!keep up the good work...
